Belinda grew up in the Central Valley and graduated from CSU, Fresno. Even though she was from an area that produced many of the nation’s agricultural products, it didn’t dawn on her at the time that one day she would become part of it. In 2006, she moved to a tiny town in the Sierra with her husband to take on the adventure of a lifetime: managing the longstanding family ranch. A rafting trip on the Kings River years earlier made her fall hard for the Sierra and all it had to offer so it made the transition a bit easier. Belinda has since taken additional courses in Environmental Studies, Botany, Biology, Multi-Species Grazing, and participated in many outings including trail running, backpacking, and hiking. She became a botany and herpetology nerd who craved to know more about the native plants and amphibians of the Region. When she heard about the Conservancy, she jumped at the opportunity of becoming an intern and has been here since.
Presently, Belinda assists the SNC in their Communications Department being somewhat of the digital voice on its various social media outlets. She introduced the SNC to Twitter and enjoys enhancing the Conservancy’s presence by sharing its initiatives and messaging to online communities. When not in the office, Belinda is responding to the needs of her and her husband’s flocks of laying hens from their pasture-raised egg operation.
