Regional Science Coordinator

11521 Blocker Drive, Suite 205
Auburn , CA 95603
Office Phone: (530) 823-4699

Biography:

Nic is the Regional Science Coordinator for the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, out of the Auburn office. His primary initiatives are the valuation of ecosystem services, communicating the benefits that the Sierra Nevada Region provides all of California, and tracking and communicating scientific findings relevant to the Region.

Nic has multiple years of experience in natural resource management through collaboration with diverse stakeholder groups, including three years of service in Peace Corps Panama. While there he learned, and has since forgotten, how to make hammocks. He holds a double BA Degree  in Biology and Environmental Studies from Indiana University and a Master of Science Degree in Terrestrial Ecosystems from the University of Michigan. Nic quickly escaped the cold of Michigan to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, where he can go to the snow instead of having the snow come to him.

Nic enjoys exploring the Sierra Nevada on foot and by car, and occasionally by SCUBA. Occasionally, he leaves the Sierra Nevada to partake in a Sacramento Republic football game or a show at the SF Jazz Center. He can also be found in his garage, working on a car or building a table from bark beetle-killed trees from his property.

The known is finite, the unknown is infinite. Intellectually we stand on an islet in the midst of an illimitable ocean of inexplicability. Our business in every generation is to reclaim a little more land.”
